Hi, I’m Ryan Hayden, I grew up all over the country and as long as I can remember, have been a part of some Independent Baptist Church. Throughout my life, I’ve been involved in almost every kind of Independent Baptist church, and have had the privilege of getting to know many leaders of the Independent Baptist movement. Currently, I’m serving as the pastor at Bible Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL.
I’m passionate about being an informed, biblical, and balanced Independent Baptist pastor. In this blog I write about the issues that come with being a young pastor in the 21st century. These include relating the church to culture, the use of technology in the ministry, and often, the failings of fundamental baptists. I try to post at least twice a week.

This is a book about the issues that I, as a 29 year old pastor, see in the Independent Fundamental Baptist movement and why I think those issues need to be worked through, not cause us to abandon being an Independent Baptist. Throughout the book I try to deal with ideas and ideal, not people, and for every issue I post a “How do we fix this” section. Expect this book in print and online by the end of the summer 2013.

I married to Amanda and have two beautiful girls, Audrey (3) and Molly (2) with a little boy coming very soon. I serve the wonderful people at Bible Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL as their pastor and have since the fall of 2011. Before that, I served as an assistant to Dr. Jack Scallions at Fairview Baptist Church in Athens, TN where I also worked as program director at Camp Fairview and as a school teacher at Fairview Christian Academy. I am a graduate of The Crown College in Powell, TN and have taken masters classes at Pensacola Christian College.
